This all culminated in her managing the advertising and digital companies of Breakthrough, a prominent startup group, in 2010. But soon enough, Mai launched her own entrepreneurial journey. In 2014, Mai and her partner, Naemat Khalil, started sailing their own ship, The Worx, an independent and innovative events consultancy seeking unchartered territories in the industry. During the same year, they launched the Creative Industry Summit, the first and biggest platform devoted to enabling, empowering, and connecting the diverse creative economies of Egypt and the MENA region. In just seven years, Mai played a key role in changing the face of the events and creative industries in Egypt, establishing a number of game-changing platforms and bringing international events to Egypt for the first time.  And was instrumental in The Worx's biggest triumphs and most notable achievements. This includes co-launching the NU Digital Awards, which strives to celebrate those excelling in everything digital within Egypt and MENA's creative economy.   Additionally, The Worx won Egypt's license for Cannes Lions, the Global Festival of Creativity, becoming its first and only representative and office in Egypt in 2018.
